Where Do We Get Health Insurance Anyway?
Breakdown of Health Insurance by Source
This chart shows the sources of health care coverage for the U.S. population:

As this chart shows, 54% of Americans have insurance through their employer. Another 26% of Americans get health care from the government through programs like:
- Medicare: Health care for everyone over 65.
- State Children’s Health Insurance Plan (SCHIP): Health care for low-income children and sometimes their families.
- Medicai: Health care for low-income adults.
- Veterans Administration (VA): Health care for veterans.
But here's the big problem: 16% of people are uninsured. That’s 47 million Americans.
- Two-thirds of the 47 million are low-income Americans.
- Eight in 10 of the uninsured come from working families.
